Judaism is active and thriving at the Congregation of Moses in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Our synagogue is over 126 years old and we have occupied our current site for nearly 54 years. We are affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and participate actively in the Jewish Federation of Kalamazoo and Southwest Michigan. Many of our members are also active in Hadassah. We make an effort to satisfy the diverse spiritual, social, and educational needs of all of our members, young and old.
We welcome you to explore our website and to contact us if you have any questions about our synagogue or the Kalamazoo Jewish community.
The mission of The Congregation of Moses is to nurture the spiritual and cultural values of an active Jewish community.
The members of the Congregation of Moses, an egalitarian Conservative synagogue, welcome all Jews and their families.
1) are encouraged to belong to groups small and personal enough to know each other on more than a superficial level;
2) feel free to be beginners, experimenters and innovators; and
3) enjoy Jewish experiences that are right for them at their stage of Jewish growth.
Much of the vital energy of our synagogue is generated through groups in which there is meaningful personal interaction described by words such as participatory, welcoming, close-knit, inclusive and caring.
Members participate in many small-group and synagogue-wide activities, such as Shabbat and Holiday services, educational opportunities, lifecycle events, social occasions, social action, support for Israel and Jews around the world, and joint events with other organizations.
